Gruffalo Art

For art, we drew sections of the The Gruffalo cover as a class. We learnt new skills during the couple of weeks we did this. 

First, we got chosen to a peice of paper to color. The first technique we got taught was the blending. To do the blending technique we smudge colours together to get a shade or texture. We used a paper towel to blend in the big parts and little cotton tips to blend the small details.

After that, we started to colour in the lines and thought about the colours, details and technique. The second technique we learnt was how to get the light colour for the grass. To do this we went with white and covered the area. Then we got green and coloured on top of the white. Then got white again and coloured over the green to blend the colours.

The last skill we learnt was how to make the colour of the path. The path was difficult to blend. The colours we used were, yellow, gold and peach. We went in with the peach colour and covered the area with it. Then we used yellow and a small part of gold to get the colour. 

I think that this activity was challenging and I found it difficult to make the path. I would like to improve on my blending skill.

LI: To collaborate as a group and learn new techniques to create art.

Masking Art | Artwork

In art we made geometric art using the masking tape technique. Geometric means easy and simple shapes. Masking means covering an area of something.

First we practised sectioning parts off digitally inside a Google Drawing to get an idea of how to section off pieces of the paper.

Next we moved onto the real copy. We first created the border. After that we sectioned off pieces. The technique we used was to section off big parts then divide them into smaller parts.

After that we started colouring. To colour in the sections we moved the pastels in one direction to give a sharp look to our shapes.

I think the art turned out really good at the end, but I think I could do better, other than that the activity was really fun.

LI: To create geometric art using the masking technique.

Aboriginal Artwork | Art

Aboriginal art comes from Australia. Most of the aboriginal art told a story with the different symbols which made up something called a dreamtime story. Dreamtime refers to the Aboriginals belief of how things were created. 

Like how the kangaroo got its pouch is a dreamtime story and uses the aboriginal symbols to tell the story of how the kangaroo got its pouch.

We practised using symbols but we used dots instead of lines to make the art. Some of the symbols were: stars, travelling, footprints and waterholes. After we practised using the symbols we made our good copy and told a story that we experienced ( how the kagaroo got its pouch ).

The story I tried to tell was the life of a Koala. I used symbols like footprints ( which represent the Koala ), stars ( to represent the night sky ), a yellow star ( to represent the sun ), the symbol for man ( to represent a hunter ) and the symbol for boomerang ( to represent the hunters weapon ).

I enjoyed this activity and learned many new things about the Aboriginals, and their unique art designs that make up a dreamtime story.

LI: To create art that tells a story with traditional methods.

Maths | 3D Shapes

LI: To create a 3D ( 3 dimensional ) art out of shapes.

This week we were creating an understanding of 3D shapes. We had to create a google drawing that represents multiple 3D shapes in a room. The tiles/floor had to be straight, not crooked. The shapes couldn't overlap with eachother so we had to put them a an angle. I enjoyed this activity because it helped me with creating geometric shapes.

Print Design Rules

LI: To build an understanding of the Print Design Rules.
Today in LS1 we started to build an understanding of the areas in the print design rules. The four areas of the print design rules are composition, layout, text & colour.

Composition 
Composition is balancing the text, images, videos and more evenly. The rules for composition in Ls1 are, again having a balance between pictures and sentences and remember to use images that relate to the text.

Layout
Layout is making sure everything is visibly and correctley placed. The rules for layout in Ls1 are having margins, align the text and images and use most of the space.

Color 
Color is making sure that the colors you use are easy on the eays a they aren't clashing. The rules for color in Ls1 are again, Not using clashing colors, instead use a harmonic colour scheme and using contrasting background and foreground colours.

Text
Text is making sure that all the text you include is the same font and size. The rules in Ls1 for text are Keep consistant fonts and sizes and make sure the text is legible ( Visible/Readable ).

Self Portrait

LI: To create a digital self potrait.
This week in LS1 we are creating self potraits. We had the option to choose two different techniques. I used the curved technique, the other technique we could choose were shapes ( Circles, Triangles, Squares, etc. ). A tip that we got was to start from the closest to the wall and then end on the furthest body part from the wall. This piece of art took me about 5 days to complete.

Talofa. 

My name is Oscar. I am one third Samoan, one third Niuean and i'm one third british/english. I am a year 6 student in LS1 at Panmure Bridge School. At home I enjoy reading, playing with my sister and playing outside in the backyard. When I'm in school I like maths, playing with my friends and reading.

Just Frame It Brochure

LI: To advertise a product.
Today in LS1 we had to make an advertisment. Our advertisments could be a brochure, poster or a video. The advertisment had to be about LS1's product, frames. They also had to include our company name, Just Frame It. The difference between a brochure and a poster is that a poster is in one place and has very little text. Where as a brochure you can take it anywhere and it has alot of information on it.

Maths | Artwork

LI: To earn and look after money by using maths.

This is a Geometric Landscape artwork that also uses shading. The shapes used were triangles & circles. The Height is 27.5cm and the width is 33.7cm, the amount of area I could use was 926.75cm.

Maths | Art WIP ( Work In Progress )

LI: To earn and look after money by creating maths.
In Maths we are trying to make an artwork related to maths. The artworks we can choose from are a Tapa, Geometric Landscapes, Geometric Abstract Art and 3D Object shading. Unfortunatley I didn't get the art done but I have finished my measurements. The art I have chosen to draw is a Geometric Landscape and my measurements are: Height - 27.5 Width - 33.7.

Music

To learn how to sing and play music. 

This week in music we were learning how to play music and sing at the same time. I was on the xylophones this week and it was hard to sing, look at the board for what to hit and then hit it in time with everyone else. Thankfully I could move on to the keyboards ( pianos ) which I could play whatever I please. I learnt this skill by being taught by our music teacher. The tools I used were keyboards & and xylophones.

LI: To learn how to play an instrument
In music we were learning how to play an instrument. First our music teacher gave people certain instruments to practice playing. Next she swapped 4 people onto the pianos and the ukelele people onto the xylophones. We did this by being taught by our music teacher. The tools we used were pianos, xylophones, ukelele & my chromebook.

LI: To learn how to play music in sync.
This week for music we were learning how to be in sync. First we were practicing on C & F because they were the first two notes we had to play. After that we started play all 4 notes ( C,F,G & A ). I got a turn on the piano but I was still trying to play the 4 notes with the class.

Art

LI: to learn how to use shades and blend colours in art.
Today we visited Mrs Andersons class to do learn how to blend colours and use shades in art. First we had to sketch the outline of the apple and then use a paper clip to stick it with our pink piece of paper. Next we had to press down but not to hard on the original apple to make sure the apple transistions propley. Afterwards we coloured the apple in and blended red orange and yellow pastels for the main part of the apple. Next we coloured the stem in brown, the leaves patterns in dark green and the light green to cover the rest of the leaves. We learnt this by being taught by Mrs Anderson. The tools I used were pastels a pink paper and white piece of paper with a apple on it.

Music

LI: To learn how to play the notes and chords C,F,G and A.
This week for music some people had a turn on the Piano, Ukelele and the Chime Bars. I learnt how to play the notes C,F,G and A. The Songs we learnt were Shotgun, She'll be coming down the mountain etc. I also learnt how to transition between strings.

LI: To learn how to play the Ukelele
This week for music we had to learn how to play the ukelele while also playing lean on me. We had to do C,F,G and A. We first tried the ukelele and then worked on the xylphones. We practiced lean on me for a longer amount of time because not many of us were listening. People on the Piano / Keyboard could have freetime on there musical insrument.

LI: to play chords c, f, g & a.
This week for music we played one call away and shotgun. when we played one call away the first chords were C , F, G and A. A note means one sound on its own and a chord is notes together. if we played the chords we had to skip 1 like Ce.

Today our old maori teacher also taught us music. She taught us where to hit on the chime bars, keyboard ( Piano ) & xylophone for C,F,G, & A. We also learnt what a note & chord are. A note is 1 single sound from an instrument. A chord is 2 sounds played from an instrument. We learnt this skill by being taught by our music teacher ( our maori teacher doesn't teach us maori anymore she does music ). The tools I used were a key xylophone & chime bars.
