Kiwi Can / Active Listening
LI: To learn about active listening.
This week for Kiwi Can or theme is positive relationships and our topic was positive communication. We were learning about active listening. For our energizer we played a game called remote control. Mr Alapati called out a movement and we had to do it. Our activaty was called Chop sewey salute. Mr Alapati would call out a number from 1 - 5, the numbers meant a certain move so when he would call the number we had to do it's move.

Music
LI: To learn the notes and chords C,F,G & A.
Today our old maori teacher also taught us music. She taught us where to hit on the chime bars, keyboard ( Piano ) & xylophone for C,F,G, & A. We also learnt what a note & chord are. A note is 1 single sound from an instrument. A chord is 2 sounds played from an instrument. We learnt this skill by being taught by our music teacher ( our maori teacher doesn't teach us maori anymore she does music ). The tools I used were a key xylophone & chime bars.

Recount
LI: To plan and write a recount.
This week for writing we had to plan then write a recount. First we had to brainstorm as many thing we did over the holidays as we could. Then we had 5 minutes to choose what activaty we would write a recount about.
We had 40 minutes to complete the recount and then re read it to make sure there were no mistakes. The structre of our recount is TREE and TREE stands for title, reveal, events and ending. We had to have a title that would catch the attention of the reader and relates to your story. In the reveal you have to have who, when and where. In the events we had to write down the things we did but not with to much detail. And for the ending we had to write a reflection on what our emotions felt like.

Math Graphs
LI: To display data on a graph.
This week for Maths we had to make a graph digitally and by hand. On our graph we had to write about six different data platforms.
Each of us made one graph each. For the graphs we had to write a statements about the data we collected. For the graphs we had to write the labels and the title so people know what it is about. Some main things you need on a graph is amount of people that have you data, a vertical and horizontal lable.

Kiwi Sport: Ki O Rahi
LI: To learn about the basics of Ki o Rahi
This week for Kiwi Sport we learnt a new game for me but a old game for others. we had a new Kiwi Sport leader and her name is Shanice and she was here to teach us the game called Ki O Rahi. The game was made for peace and harmony. First Shanice showed us a video about Rahi and his wife Te Ara because the game is similar to the story. After we had read through the story we had to reflect what we had learnt and remebered.
After the story we played a game outside called Taniwha and Kioma. This game is very similar to rats and rabbits. The setup is that there are two lines. If someone calls kioma then the kioma line has to run to the other side without the taniwha line tagging them and same works for the taniwha line. The next game we played is called 8 pass. The rules of 8 pass is to be the first team to pass the ball to 8 people in your team without dropping the ball. If you or your teamates drop the ball you have to give the ball to the other team. You can intercept but if you try and drop the ball in the process you give the ball over. Some rules of the game are to share, spread out and communicate.

Kiwi Can
LI: To learn about positive relationships and positive comunication.
This week for Kiwi Can we had a new teacher and his name is Mr Alapati. He talked a little bit about himself and then we started our energizer called eyes up, eyes down.
To play this game we had to start off in a circle. Then we had to bob our head down when Mr Alapati said to. We would also have to bob our head up when Mr Alapati said to. The second game we played was called Midnight tunnels. In that game we had to group up with three people and made a circle. Within our group we had to choose who would be number 1,2 and 3. Mr Alapati and Mrs Page would call out one of the three numbers the number that was called out had to run around the circle while the other two people in your group had to make a tunnel for you to go through. when you went through the tunnel we had to get into a hoola hoop as quick a possible and the two teams that were last were out.
Next we played Jockey up. To play we had to get into a duo ( 2 people ) and make a circle. One person had to be behind the other and put there hands on there shoulder. when Mrs page would say something the person at the back had to run around the circle back to your partner, when you go back you can eather jump on there back or put your hand back on there shoulders. the last two teams would be elimanated. Then we went back inside a played a game of GQK ( General knowledge questions ). I enjoyed the first Kiwi Can of 2019 and wish to have as much fun the next time.
