SLJ | Swimming to Safety

LI: To research about the people who change the world.
For the 2nd task of day 5 we had to summarise the story of famous refugee swimmer Yusra Mardini. If you don't know about who Yusra Mardini is or what she did, then you can learn more from the DLO ( Digital Learning Object ) above.

    Hey Oscar! Yursa Mardini's story was very interesting to read about. I think she was very brave to do that, saving the lives of so many others. Your summary of what happened to her is really detailed and specific, but I can only imagine what it must've been like for all of those people including Yursa. What are you thoughts on it? Good job!

    You have a great summary about the story of Yusra Mardini. I have enjoyed reading your detailed summary. I think that Yusra Mardini is an awesome person. Wow! I can't believe Yusra saved 20 lives. That's amazing!

    It is lovely meeting you! I am so excited that you are joining us for the Summer Learning Journey 2019-2020. Have you done this programme before?

    This is my first year joining the Summer Learning Journey, and I am so excited that I get to read over the Manaiakalani blogs.

    I’m really looking forward to summer, aren't you? In my spare time I like spending time at the beach and hanging out with my friends. I also enjoy going for walks and I absolutely love cooking and baking. What are you looking forward to doing this summer?

    I really like the way you retold Yursa Mardini's story. How courageous and inspiring is she?! What was the most remarkable aspect of Yursa's story for you when you were reading about her? I find it awesome that she is now training for the 2020 Olympics.
