Commenting

LI: To make a smart comment.
Today for commenting I commented on my friend Ong's blog post about C.A.R.E awards so that we can help them learn on what to change and what not to change.

SSR Selfie


LI: To summarise and retel a text.
This week for SSR Selfie I based on the book gravity. I had to answer questions like what is the book title, what is the name of the author and illustrator or photographer, what the main topic is, Three intresting facts from the book and The main intresting fact. 

Inquiry | Poems


LI: To identify vocabulary and language feature for use in writing a poem about feelings.
This week in inquiry we were learning about poetry. We had to write a poem about feelings and how to deal with those feelings. My poem is a Haiku about anger and safe things to do when I am angry. A haiku is a poem that originates from japan, and has 5 syllables in the start 7 in the next and finishs with another 5 syllables. 

Diamante: A diamante poem is a poem that describes things, and describes the opposite of that also. In the poem it needs two adjectives, and three words that has “ing”. It also is a diamond shape.

Cinquin: A cinquain is a poem that has five lines, and is also describing a thing, place, or person. The function of Cinquain is it starts with a one noun title, needs two adjectives, three words that have ing, a phrase, and a synonym for your title. All of it needs to relate to that one noun title.

Limerick: A limerick poem is a text that rhymes and is comedic.

We learnt this skill and information by being taught by Mr Wong. The tools I used were my netbook and the app I used was google docs

Writing | Writing Changes

LI: To revise and edit a recount
This week in writing we had to learn how to improve sentences. First we had to get a partener within our group. Next we had 40 minutes to write a recount about Kiwi Can, Kiwi Sport or Music. Once our recount was complete we had to let our partener improve it. This was a competition because we had to try and get the most points because there was a point system. The loser had to write a recount about the 2 other choices & the winners prize was not told to us. I sadly lost with 27 points and my partener won fair in square with 45 points. We learnt this skill by being taught by Mr Ogilvie. The tools I used were my netbook and the app I used was google document. 

Basic Facts

LI: To remember basic facts
This week for basic facts I had to answer which are addition, subtraction, multiplacation and division. I did Addition and subtraction up to 5 because I knew it would be quick for me to complete. The tools I used to complete this were my chromebook and the app I used to do this was google spreadsheet.


Music

LI: To learn how to play music in sync.
This week for music we were learning how to be in sync. First we were practicing on C & F because they were the first two notes we had to play. After that we started play all 4 notes ( C,F,G & A ). I got a turn on the piano but I was still trying to play the 4 notes with the class.

Reading | Summarisation



LI: To learn how to summarise a text with key words.
In reading we were learning about summarising. summarising is when you retell a text using less words than the actual text. First Mr Ogilvie gave us a book to read. then we wrote down the keywords that we found. After we had done that we had to write down the 5W's ( who, what, when, where, why & how ), using the 5W's we made a summarisation in under 25 words if you could. Afterwards we would pair up with someone, shair our summarisation to see if they would understand the story. We learnt this skill by being taught by Mr Ogilvie. The tools I used were my chromebook and the app I used was a google document that was made by Mr Ogilvie.

Maths | Statistics

LI: To learn about the class or school using statistics.
This week for maths we were learning how to use statistics to make a form out of. First our groups had to get a map of the school. next we had to put layers over the areas / zones that we wanted our audience to choose from. Finally we had to make a google form asking for YOUR opionion on what your favourite place to sit in the school is. We learnt this by being taught by Mr Wong. Kiwi Can | Friendship

LI: To learn how to include people.
This week for Kiwi Can we were learning how to include people and our theme is still positive relationships. The energizer we played is called last man standing. The game we played is called secret cards. We learnt this by being taught by the Kiwi Can leaders ( Mrs Mac & Mr H ). The tools we used to do this were just tickets with good and bad secrets written on them.

Art

LI: to learn how to use shades and blend colours in art.
Today we visited Mrs Andersons class to do learn how to blend colours and use shades in art. First we had to sketch the outline of the apple and then use a paper clip to stick it with our pink piece of paper. Next we had to press down but not to hard on the original apple to make sure the apple transistions propley. Afterwards we coloured the apple in and blended red orange and yellow pastels for the main part of the apple. Next we coloured the stem in brown, the leaves patterns in dark green and the light green to cover the rest of the leaves. We learnt this by being taught by Mrs Anderson. The tools I used were pastels a pink paper and white piece of paper with a apple on it.

Kiwi Can

LI: To learn how to use positive relationships with each other.
This week for Kiwi Can we were learning more about positive relationships and positive communacation. We learnt this skill by being taught by The kiwican leaders Mrs Mac and Mr H. The first game we played was called codebreaker and you had to memorize as a team the right path to crack the code. The second challenge we completed as a team was a riddle and the first team to figure it out wins. The tools we used were hula hoops, a vivid and a piece of paper.

LI: To identify purposes of poems.
For inquiry we were learning about poetry. They are a type of literature  
(something you can read) and can be long or short. They also can be seen in different shapes. For our must do we looked at what poems contained like End Rhyme (End rhyme means sounds at the end of multiple words sound the same), Alliteration ( Alliteration means multiple words that have the same starting sound), Assonance
(your vowel sounds) and consonance(your non vowel sounds). We learnt this information by being taught by Mr Wong The tools I used to complete this task were my chromebook, a highlighter, a piece of paper with poems on it, a vivid and the app I used was a google document made by Mr Wong.

Ki O Rahi | Kiwi Sport

LI: To learn how to play the full game of Ki O Rahi.
This week for Ki O Rahi or Kiwi Sport we had our last session. We had to play the role of Kioma, Taniwha, Kaitiaki, and the Kicker. The boundries of Kioma allows you to be in Te au and Paweru but not in Te Rutu. In the role of Kioma you have to get the Ki to touch as many po's as you want and then you try in paweru. Team Taniwha were allowed in Te rutu and Te au, they weren't allowed Paweru, Te ara or Te marama. The boundries of the kicker was only Te Marama and they had to kick the Ki into the Paweru. The kaitiaki were only allowed in Te ara to enter and Paweru to protect the tupu from being hit. We learnt this by applying what we have learnt into the proper game of Ki O Rahi. The tools we used were The tools that we used to learn the full game was the Ki ( Ball ), the Tupu ( it is a rock but not a actual rock ), the 7 Po ( Taniwha Teeth also again there not real ), Cones to help now our boundaries and a couple Tags ( Rippa Rugby Tags ).

Basic Facts

LI: To remember basic facts

Punctuation and Paragraphs






LI: to make improvements to a recount
This week for writing we had to first make a poster about as much Punctuation we know with our group. Next we were give a messed up recount for us to put back in order. Afterwards we had to take one of the paragraphs from the messed up recount and improve it by adding more interesting punctuation, better sentences and so on. We learnt this new skill by being taught by Mr Ogilvie. The tools I used to complete this task were my netbook and the app I used for the punctuation and the messed up recount was google drawings. 

Summarising

LI: To unlock a key word to summarize a text
Today in reading we learnt how find key words and how to summarize them in 25 words or under. First we had to find the text on eather Kiwi Kids New or the New Zealand Herald. They text could not be short. Next we had to highlight the 5W's and H. After that was completed we had to summarize the text in 25 words or under. We learnt this new skill by being taught by Mr Ogilvie. The tools I used were my netbook and the app I used was a Google Doc created by Mr Ogilvie.


Maths | Place Value and Multiplacation

LI: To shift between place value using multiplacation
This week for Maths we were learning how to shift place value using multiplacation. First we had to learn how to do this so Mr Wong taught us about place value. Place Value is when you shift a number once you get to a certain number. 10's in place value means all the tens in a number, 1's in place value is counting all the 1's in the number, 100's in place value means all the 100's are in a number and so on. The tools I used to make this were my chromebook and the app I used is call google spreadsheet.

Basic Facts

LI: To remeber basic maths facts 
Today I have completed to remember my basic facts. First I had to choose what level I wanted to learn from. Next I had to complete all 20 addition and subtraction boxes.This was easy because I had remembered some of them.

Inquiry | Game Making

LI: To create a game which would encourage building chareterestics.
This week for inquiry we had to make our own cooperative game. When we finished we had to share our game with the whole inquiry group and then play it. I think my group failed because we didn't make it a cooperative game, we didn't let everyone have a turn playing, we made the game to complex and we were explaining the rules very badly. And I don't think some of the groups made there games cooperative but with some modifications it could be a cooperative game.

Peter Beck | Reading


LI: To apply the different stratiegies we use as readers.
This week for reading we had to study someone that works in the topic we were given.  My group was had to learn about Peter Beck. We had to make a presantaion about your person with questions. In our slide we had some of our own questions and we had to find to research the answers of those questions. The tools that I used was just my Chromebook ( Netbook ).

Music

LI: To learn how to play the notes and chords C,F,G and A.
This week for music some people had a turn on the Piano, Ukelele and the Chime Bars. I learnt how to play the notes C,F,G and A. The Songs we learnt were Shotgun, She'll be coming down the mountain etc. I also learnt how to transition between strings.

Word Lists


LI: To build more intresting sentences.
This week for writing we built on our vocabulary so that our words weren't still boring. We had to find words for adverbs, verbs, ajectives, emotions and alternates for Male and Female and the word "said". We got into groups and each person from the group had to choose one of these word types. Then other people from other groups doing the same word type as you would join together to and make a poster about the chosen word type.

Types of Abuse

LI: to learn about the types of abuse and what to do when abused.
Constable Cyrus was teaching us different kinds of Abuse and what to do when abused. The types of abuse are 
  1.  Not abuse
  2. Neglet
  3. Sexual abuse
  4. Family Violence
  5. Physical abuse 
  6.  Cyber Abuse 
  7. Emotional Abuse     
Not Absue is a situation that might look like abuse but it is not
Physical abuse is when someone touches you to make you feel harmed
Emotional Abuse is when someone does something that makes you feel a certain emotion 
Sexual abuse is when someone does something inappropriate that makes you feel uncomfortable
Cyber Abuse is when someone abuses you over the internet
Neglect is when you or your parents don't take care of your health
Family Violence is when your family does something violently to people. 

Cybersmart


LI: To write a blogpost using a template.
This week for cybersmart I learnt how to write a blogpost using a template. I learnt this skill by Focsuing on my work while multitasking. As you can see at the top I have a title, learning intention and some lables. In a blogpost you need a title, a blurb, lables and a DLO. In the blurb you need to contain what information or skill you learnt, How you learnt it and the tools you used to learn it.

This week for Ki O Rahi we learnt how to play the full game of Ki O Rahi. We learnt how to play by being taugh by Shanice. The tools that we used to learn the full game was the Ki ( Ball ), the Tupu ( it is a rock but not a actual rock ), the 7 Po ( Taniwha Teeth also again there not real ), Cones to help now our boundries, Tags ( Ripper Tags ),

Place Value Flipgrid


LI: To count groups of 10 & 100 in a large numbers
This week for maths we were learning about place value with 10's, 100's, 1000's etc. First we made a grid with every box containing the correct number. After we had completed the grid we had to make a flipgrid explaining how groups of 10 and 100 are in a number.

Kiwi Can | Cooperation

LI: To understand what cooperation means.
This week for Kiwi Can we were assigned a new theme and it was cooperation. First we shared the understanding of what cooperation means in a group. Our energizer is called oppisite actions. Our Activaty is called Command. In Command there are 4 teams and 4 leaders. Each leader gets told some instructions then the leader reports to the team about what the instructions are. Each team had to complete it and the first finished team got 1 point.

Inquiry | Cooperitive Games




LI: To identify the characteristics of a good citizen. 
This week for inquiry we were learning about cooperitive games and how to be a good teammate. first we opened a padlet to were we would have to write what lifts and breaks down a relationship when we are in school, home and in our community. Next we had to write what actions and emotions we do to lift or break a relationship. After that we made a body outline about 10 good things to help your team in black and 10 red colored things to slow down your team. Lastly we made a T chart about 10 good and bad things, and then rated them. 

Cybersmart | CARE Values

LI: To write a succinct blurb for a blog post
CARE in LS1 is given to those who have shown the care values. We gathered information about the care values and the three P’s from the treaty of Waitangi. The three P’s stand for protection, partnership & participation while our CARE values stand for confidence, attitude, respect & excellence and innovation.

LI: To learn how to play the Ukelele
This week for music we had to learn how to play the ukelele while also playing lean on me. We had to do C,F,G and A. We first tried the ukelele and then worked on the xylphones. We practiced lean on me for a longer amount of time because not many of us were listening. People on the Piano / Keyboard could have freetime on there musical insrument.

Modyfing Sentences


LI: To make an intresting sentence.
This week for writing we were learning how to make a intresting sentence. Our intresting sentence included a adjective, when it happened, where it happened, how it happened and why it happened. We had to make our own sentences so after I had made my sentence I had to make a poster based on a image we were shown.

Learning Reading sratiegies


L.I To identify the different strategies we use as readers.
In Reading we were learning about the strategies that we had picked when we did GKQ. We did GKQ (General Knowledge Questions) to see who knew the most questions right and if you got the question right then you get to pick one of the reading strategies that the teacher chose. If you got the question wrong then the question will change and the person that got the question wrong will sit down with the rest of the teams remain standing waiting for the next questions.

Kiwi Sport | Ki O rahi | Kioma Practice

LI: To learn about the role of Kioma.
This week for Ki O Rahi ( Kiwi Sport ) we were practicing the role of Kioma, we also had the new addition of a kicker. To start of Ki O Rahi the kicker has to stand near the end of te ara and the kickers area is called Te Marama. Only one member of Kioma can be kicker and the kickers job is to kick it into the paweru while the kaitiaki is trying to catch the Ki on the full. If the Ki rolls team Taniwha gets the Ki. If the Ki is droppped taniwha gets it. If kaitiaki catches the ball on the full they have to throw it to team Kioma. To practice this we played three different activites. The Kaitiaki enter and exit paweru through Te Ara ( The Ice Bridge ). They were the rescue of Te Ara, Golden child and we all had a turn to kick.

Kiwi Can | Being Praised

LI: To learn about praise.
In our Kiwi Can lesson we learnt about praise that links in with positive relationships and positive commnication. As a group we devoloped a shared understanding about praise. To learn what it feels like to be praised we played a game called hand soccer so that every time someone did something and you are proud of them you clap, give a high five etc. And that is what praise is about, it is a little like acknowledging someones acheivments and cheering for what they have done.

This week for maths we had to learn how to tell time. Once we finished learning how to tell time we had to make a poster explaing how to tell time. we used a random clock generator to choose whatever time we liked. When we thought we were finished we had to go show Mr Wong for feedback.

Types of touch | KOS

LI: to make a poster about one of the things we learned on KOS (Keeping Ourselves Safe)

This week for inquiry we had to work together as a group to make a poster about one of the topics we have been learning about. The poster I made was Types of Touch.  The three types of touch are safe touch, confusing touch, and the hurtful touch. An example of the safe touch is a high five, a confusing touch would be a wet willy, an a unsafe touch is slap in the face.

Softball Interschool

LI: To play as a team in a softball interschool.
This week on wedsenday the softball group had there interschool in dunkirk park. We won 3 games which placed us 4th on the leader board out of 10 teams. the teams were year grouped in 5, 6, 7 & 8 and the schools we faced were Tamaki, Pt England and a few more that I unfortunately don't know the name of.
